Aaron spent September of 2018 to July of 2020 completely refurbishing The Constance. He hauled her out, and refitted her with a new engine, new through-hulls and valves, new electronics, and new paint. He then worked with a crew to pilot her to her new home to Astoria, Oregon.
Aaron is passionate about boat restoration. He has restored The Pax, a 24-foot Bristol sloop rig sailboat and built a stitch and glue fiberglass sailboat before restoring The Constance. He also worked in the boat restoration shop as an historic interpreter at Mystic Seaport Museum.
Aaron has enjoyed a life-long connection to the natural environment. He has led kayak tours off Mount Desert Island in Maine’s Acadia National Park, cored pro-glacial lake sediments as a science researcher in Antarctica, built trails in Ecola State Park, eradicated invasive Spartina sp. grass in Willapa Bay.
